"The Simpsons" is the greatest show ever. Well, at least it was during the 1st 8 seasons with classic episodes such as "Bart the Daredevil", "Marge vs the Monorail", "Homer & Apu", "Treehouse of Horror V", & so much more. Unfortunately, this show has gone downhill since season 9 & should have ended it 's run years ago. I blame FOX for turning this once-great show into a cash cow & milking it to death. Some of the characters have changed for the worst (i.e. the evolution of "Jerkass" Homer, Lisa becoming a far-left extremist who thinks only she's right, Marge being involved in dumb plots such as getting breast implants, etc.) Other factors of the Simpsons' decline include the death of Phil Hartman, killing off Ned Flanders' wife the way they did, too many celebrites playing themselves (see Mel Gibson, Alec Baldwin, etc.), abandoning most the humor used during the golden age of the show in favor of crude humor seen on "Family Guy" & "South Park." Most of the newer episodes of "The Simpsons" are either mediocre or just plain awful, as opposed the show's glory years in the 1990s where most of the episode were funny & well-written with very few mediocre episodes in site. The last great episode was "Behind the Laughter" & Fox should of ended it there & let Matt Groening concentrate on "Futurama" (a show that got cancelled too soon.) Strangely, the bad episodes of the "Simpsons" are better than 80% of the TV Shows of the last 5-10 years, as Reality TV & other mindless filth has infested the TV airways Overall, classic-era Simpsons remains to be funny while current Simpsons are just blah.
I recently watched the "Skinner is really Armin Tamzarian" episode again and I feel without a doubt that's where the show jumped. Season 9 was for me the last season of consistently great Simpsons. From then on into now there's been the occasional good episode but overall it's gotten so wacky and mostly uninspired. Good points made on how episodes these days have way too much going on at once and how far too much comedy is based on stupidity and slapstick. I did like the movie though.
im shocked, i just found out what "jump the shark" meant and the first show that came to mind was the simpsons, i love the simpsons i actually jsut finished watching a few episodes from season 4, but the show ended being funny after season 10 and even that is a bit of a stretch. when it was good it was great when it was bad it was downright awful
God, it's such complete and utter BS how The Simpsons is on the "Never Jumped" list.

Anybody can see the votes for "never jumped" are in the minority. So I have to wonder, is Fox paying this website or something? Seriously.

Taking it off the list would be easy as pie, and tallying up all the votes ain't exactly rocket science, either.

Come on, Jump The Shark. What's the point of even visiting this site if you're just gonna ignore the readers' votes willy nilly?
i will tell you i stopped watching the series on a regular basis. It was the episode where they split the town in two over different long distance calling areas. It was that episode i realized "there are like three or four different stories in this show!" and i do not mean like an A and B storyline happening at the same time. I mean its was three completly different storylines. It started off with a badger being in Santa's Little helper's dog house and ended with the who on a wall of garbage splitting the town. And forgive me if i have that last part wrong it has been years scince i have seen this episode and kinda don't want to ^.^
i love it when people say well the simpsons is definitly past its prime but its still the best thing on tv if you dont like it go watch family guy or south park. how can you insult people for watching those shows if you still like the simpsons? the simpsons since season 10 has become a mixture of the 2. it has the complete randomness, almost no discernible plot, whacky characters and rapid fire jokes as family guy and it tries to incorporate shock value into everything they do just like south park by insulting everyone instead of the clever satire they used to do. honestly stop praising the simpsons it has become terrible in recent years, more so because people still chat it up like its a dam landmark in tv history when its been dead for 10 years. at least the other shows on tv still have a sense of direction and are fresh. i cant sit through 5 minutes of an episode past season 10. has anyone ever noticed how in the later seasons every episode or 2 seems to have some 5 minute long chase or song or something where the characters are just running around acting stupid and it seems like...i swear they are just trying to take up a third of the episode with this repitious chase scene of someone running in circles? sorry for the rant i just cant stand it when people laugh at the simpsons these days
I believe that The Simpsons is a great show that is now starting to show its age. The more recent episodes have had story lines that are very unplausible and the plots have even more ADD than they used to. Also the humor in the show has gotten very low brow. The jokes in my opinion have become too "Family Guyish". However with the cancelation of King of the Hill, The simpsons are left as the only non Seth McFarlen creation on sunday nights on fox. All in all i think that series fatigue, and inability to keep using more intelligent humor
About Homer having a different voice...

Homer was always voiced by Dan Castellaneta, but his voice went from being Walter Matthau-like to being the Homer we hear today. I liked the Walter Matthau voice more, IMHO.
simpson is brillaint i adore it i think it is so funny i love all the chareters
64 Votes for Same Character, Different Actor (Homer)?? Dan Castellaneta has been the voice of Homer since day one!

The Simpsons may have gone downhill since season 10 but I'd rather watch a bad episode than half the crap that gets sreened on air these days.
This show became totally retarded starting with the "Skinner is really Armin Tamzarian" episode.
IF YOU DONT LIKE THE SIMPSONS VOTE FOR IT JUMPING THE SHARK INSTEAD Of just posting comments. dosnt matter which one. also the simpsons are stealing from south park now
The Simpsons died long ago, I try to look at the new episodes but they are boring and lame. Only some few ones are slighly funny and have few good jokes. Old Simpson is awesome, New Simpsons is ****.
would you like some more tarnish on your idol sir?
no thanks benson, by the way you're doing a bang up job!
*thumbs up.thumbs up*
Honestly I used to hate the Simpsons and I used to say FG is much better, but after I saw the early seasons, I've changed my mind completely; the character development is amazing, the one-liners are accompanied by very funny situations and they are both great and the plot is very realistic and strong too -- I didn't bother watching the new ones because they get so much bashing from people so I'm scared to ruin the greatness of earlier seasons by watching the new ones
